Surf on Thursday – A few small ones with just a little bump

Thursday will be a small wave surf day but it can be fun if you take the right equipment and the right attitude.

We will have a mix of weak WNW energy and some background SW swell that is still limping in from the Southern Hemisphere. Most spots will hold around knee-waist high and will have trouble as the tide hits the high (and the more extreme low) throughout the day. Standout combo breaks will have some inconsistent chest high sets.

The eddy is supposed to back off a touch further tomorrow…so look for light and variable to light south winds through the morning and then some onshore W-WSW flow around 10-12 knots by the afternoon.

I think beach breaks with a decent sandbar will be the call tomorrow. You are probably going to want to bring your longboard if you are a bigger surfer, or your fishy shape if you are under 150 lbs….I guess what I am saying is that there will be waves but don’t expect the surf to generate a lot of speed for you…expect to work for your ride.

From a travel standpoint it won’t be worth driving very far to get to the beach so try and stick close to home unless you have a lot of time to kill and the Gas Fairy magically fills up your tank at night.

On a random note I will probably skip yet another morning thanks to the bird flu...I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to actually surf when this next S swell arrives and not just sit in the line-up coughing up a lung (not that it will really stop me from ripping...hahaha I am lame). I am getting a little concerned though...I think that it might be a bad thing that the doctor made me sew this patch on my clothes.

I love this blog. There's nothing better than a surf forecaster with a sense of humor! See you in the lineup!
