Monday’s Surf – Cinco de eddy!

Monday is looking a bit sloppy thanks to the continuation of the eddy low that spun up on Sunday.

It may be surfable at breaks protected from S winds but most other spots are going to see some bump and onshore winds.

Surfwise we are going to see a mix of fading SW swell and some background NW windswell.

Most spots will be seeing waist-chest high surf while the standout combo spots, mostly through San Diego, will have some bigger sets.

Unfortunately the forecasts are showing a pretty strong eddy tomorrow morning (it is actually supposed to last through Tuesday before cleaning up on Wednesday). These S winds, 5-12 knots, will be blowing through most of SoCal…but there will be some cleaner pockets in the South Bay and parts of Ventura.

San Diego, Orange County, and Santa Barbara are all looking pretty sloppy.

Those winds will shift more onshore out of the SW around 10-15 knots by the afternoon.

There is a small (very small) chance that winds won’t be blowing that strong right at sun-up…so if you are desperate for surf but can’t make it to a protected break then that might be your best call. If you have the time definitely hit up a break protected from the eddy winds...there should be enough swell left in the water to have grab a few fun ones.
