Did I mention...

...the S swell is still filling in? Yep it sure is. Sizewise for Monday we can probably shave a little off the top...but not much just a little less consistency on the bigger waves. I am still thinking that most of the better exposed S facing beaches will hit shoulder-head high on the sets with some inconsistent overhead sets mixing in. Standout S-SSW facing spots will have more consistent head high to overhead+ with sets going 2-feet overhead and a little bigger on the big sets. Still a chance for some larger waves at the focal breaks.

Also the winds look a lot better tomorrow morning as well.

Maybe the lag on the peak of the swell is now a good thing...hitting after a normally crazy beach holiday and on a day with much better winds.

"Sunday the new S swell (175-190) will peak…it will be coming on strong for the morning…and will peak a few hours after sunrise."

Well, it's 2:30am in the morning and I just checked CDIP. Don't seem to recall seeing a 4.4 south recently, not even last year's mega swell.

I think I'll be heading out & sleeping in the car till dawn. Something tells me the points will be big.

Went out at HB Cliffs this morning. Pretty big size (head to couple overhead) but the current is ridiculous. I drifted from Goldenwest all the way down to the end of the cliffs in about 30 to 40 minutes. Bring a bigger size board in order to deal with the size, current and how walled up it is.

blown out junk, only spot working is wedge but that doesn't help us average guys out much

ya too windy, newport would've been firing open barrels but once again blown to bits by the eddy. Sick and tired of el nino constantly sending us lows down the coast...

Yeah i like surfline in their regional forecast's calling this ''GOOD'' conditions. Obviously to much parting yesterday...

Cold south wind and rain, a couple spots in oc had size but were blown to bits. Man ever since January its been a tough year to get things to line up somewhat nicely for us out there.

You guys who didn't score need to know when to hold 'em & when to fold 'em. You should note when Adam suggests the wind conditions might be better.

Today was a dawn patrol day. The tides were right, and the wind was calm in the middle of the night. It was the first thing I noticed and why I checked CDIP at 2:30am.

In fact, from 6:30-7:30am, it was actually blowing offshore @ SoCal's best point break(s). Add a steaming, pumping S swell, and well, the consensus in the water was this was definitely the best day in a few months.

One guy mentioned he thought the line-up was a little tense. Not from the the crowd, but from everyone trying to avoid getting caught inside.

I didn't make my second bomb past the middle section, so I got 20 waves on my head. Even better, it was fun (not) being swept down the point like I was in the Amazon along with a bunch of other guys who had been caught inside.

The topper? A 10 minute paddle back out. At least the view was cool. DOH on some sets - guys looked like fleas. For 2-3 hrs it was certifiable richter: 11 out of 10, hands down.

As a bonus, since I'm such a nice guy, the locals said the wind died down yesterday afternoon. The swell is still pumping, so you might want to consider your options.

Thats great if one or two spots are working, there almost always is atleast a couple decent surf spots on any given day, however as a hole across the board...the weather just plain sucks, and is junking up the surf with the exception of a few windows at a couple of spots that can handle the winds and affects of the unseasonal weather, overall socal didnt get its moneys worth.

Right on, if only a handful of spots are handling the wind and everybody goes there to try to make the best of the swell crowd issue becomes not worth it.
