Surf for Thursday – Small with some texture = lame

Thursday is not going to be much of a surf day.

We will see a mix of mostly leftover/overlapping WNW-NW energy, some local windswell, and some background SW swell.

Most spots will be on the small side…holding around knee-high+ with some waist high sets at times. The standout NW facing breaks, mostly through San Diego, will be in the waist high range with some inconsistent chest high+ sets. Overall morning shape is going to be pretty slow and soft thanks to an early high tide around the 6-foot+ range…stupid tide.

Winds not looking great either…a general onshore flow is expected to continue overnight and just start to lighten up around sunup. These overnight winds will keep some texture bump showing in most areas, sort of like morning sickness, but without much of a cleanup. A few of the more protected areas will be cleaner but they will also not pull in much of the swell.

Overall it doesn’t look fun tomorrow…just sort of soft and mushy with onshore bump. I would probably give conditions a quick cam check in the morning, and maybe one as the tide starts to drop…but I wouldn’t drive any sort of distance or spend any quality time looking for waves…there just won’t be much out there.

Here are the tides…
