Surf Photos - Images from the SSW swell hitting last week

Once this swell got going there were lots of waves hitting all over Socal.

Check out a few of the slide shows sent in to Solspot.com over the last few days.

Surf Photos: Super Sunday

Here are a few shots of the W-NW swell that hit on Sunday Feb 28th. It was pretty super-size comboing up with a 6’ high tide…which made for some interesting beach scenes.

These first 2 are screen grabs from the HB city camera…

Here are a few that I shot down at Newport Pier…right before a wave jumped the breakwall and sent my 4 year old scampering into the middle of the street.

And here are a few of Seal Beach from blog reader Joshua…

And finally there was a bunch of other chaos up in Seal where waves were washing over the berms and flooding the parking lot. Check out this slideshow over on Foamez.com’s What the Blank??? blog.

Surf Photos - A few nuggets hiding in the storm

With all of the various weather/cold-fronts moving through Socal over the last few days the winds have occasionally cut a few spots a little slack (actually it has helped a few spots to look pretty damn good). Check out these shots from Jeff over at Liquid Playground…(he took them on both 1/19 and 1/21)…he has a few other sick photos on his site, make sure to take a look when you get a chance.

Surf Photos – Saturday Morning Dawn Patrol

Took a drive through North OC this morning to check the surf and brought along the camera (and a co-pilot). Here are a few shots from Saturday morning (Jan 9, 2010). It was a little walled, a little inconsistent, but there were a couple corners sneaking through now and then.

My co-pilot this morning...

Maybe he should have bought him dinner first?

Surf Photos: A few road trip shots

Got up there early, just in time for sunrise, and stepped out of the truck and right into this set.

This was my only nearby crowd for a while

Then a few more humans cruised out…

And eventually it turned into this…

Later, after the nap, I paddled out at a different point, much bigger crowd but better shape thanks to the dropping tide and the lovely sandbar on the inside. I shot these afterwards, but was a little too far away for the lens I had and the camera shake, even with the tripod, starts to make a few of them look like they have gone through too many photoshop filters.

I will probably have a few more to post up before too long.

Surf Photos: A few more shots from Wednesday morning

So I got a lot of photos this morning…and there was enough swell that I took the whole bunch in about 15 minutes, which was nice since it let me get out in the water pretty quickly afterwards. Unfortunately it was the first time I had worn booties in 2 years so naturally I surfed like a goon, which was not so nice. Hope you guys had a better session than I did…here are some more photos.

And I already saw that Jason over at the Daily Bread blog has some photos up from this morning as well…check ‘em out when you get a chance.
